In terms of the funding of national budgets and civil society, The Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis, and Malaria is the largest organization in the fight against the three pandemics in the MENA region.
The Global Fund is also a model of partnership between all national actors. This is not limited to governments, but includes civil society and, especially, the populations concerned and most exposed to the three pandemics.
The Community, Rights and Gender Strategic Initiative
- The CRG initiative is a department of The Global Fund. It concentrates on interventions that aim to ensure that national responses and programmes on HIV, TB and malaria are community-, human rights- and gender-focused. Undoubtedly, actions related to these three pandemics are most effective when conducted in tandem with communities. This ensures that human rights and gender are at the heart of national responses.
The Regional Platforms for Communication and Coordination Programme are one of the important activities of the Community, Rights and Gender (CRG) Strategic Initiative. This supports and facilitates civil society dialogue and engagement in processes related to Global Fund grants.
